What I do here
I build the calculators, read the underlying research, and write every page on this site. The work is essentially translation: taking veterinary studies and clinical guidelines that were written for practitioners and turning them into tools a puppy owner can actually use, without losing the caveats along the way.
What I am not
I am not a veterinarian. I have no veterinary qualification and I do not diagnose, treat, or advise on any individual animal.
I am saying this plainly because plenty of pet sites imply clinical authority they do not have. What I can offer instead is transparency: every number here is traced to a published source, the formula is shown on the page, and the limits of each method are stated rather than hidden. You do not have to trust me. You can check the citation.
How I decide what is true
- Peer-reviewed research first, then clinical guidelines from bodies like AAHA, then established veterinary references such as the Merck Veterinary Manual.
- A figure repeated across a hundred pet blogs is not evidence. If I cannot trace it to a primary source, it is either left out or clearly labelled as a rule of thumb.
- Where the research disagrees with popular advice, I report the research and explain the gap.
- Where the data runs out, I say so on the page instead of extrapolating.
Veterinary review
No page on this site currently carries veterinary review, and none claims to. Adding a licensed veterinary reviewer is the next thing on the roadmap, and when it happens each reviewed page will name the reviewer, their credentials, and the date they signed it off. Until then, the absence of a reviewer byline is the honest signal, and I would rather show that than invent a credential.
Corrections
